Student Led Conference Reflection

The things I enjoyed most about my SLC were:
That I could show my art work that I am very proud of

What went well and why?
My results and improvements were good and my mum and I were really proud
My mum was very proud of my art work
What were the challenges you faced when preparing and presenting your SLC?
That we finished early and I had to find something quickly to show
That the Internet wasn't working for a few minutes when I was setting up

What changes would you make for next time and why?
I think I might get my box before I sit down so then I can be prepared to share extra work

Excellence Can Do - Peer Mediation #3

On Monday the 27th of June, I had a duty for peer mediation. Me and my friend Charlotte had to get our things and go. We went round the whole school, first we went round the field, then the junior area and then lastly we finished off with the senoir area just in time so we could go back to class in time.

Today, while we were in the junior area, we had a problem about a little girl kept that kept asking to play with some other little girls, but those little girls didn't want to include that girl. She was feeling down and came to us. We tried to help her by finding the group of girls and asking if they would let her, but unfortunately they didn't let her and ran off, and we couldn't find them again. So we decided to find some new friends for her. After a while we found some different little kids and they invited her to play with them. I felt like a hero. I felt happy that I helped someone to get involved and find some new friends.

I think today I showed resilience because I never gave up and I helped the little girl find new friends and I didn't just leave her alone.

I think today I showed leadership by helping the little girl and doing my duty so I can be there to help.

Visual Arts

Visual Art: WALT: Apply knowledge about shapes and patterns derived from nature into an original artwork

For Visual Art the SOLO level I achieved was: Extended Abstract because I used most of the techniques, e.g: I glazed the coral with blue and pink to make a purple, blue and pink coral look, and I also used moving colours for the water and the grass. Also I used a range of different shapes from nature from different places like under water and in the sky.
The techniques I used in my art work to achieve this level were: Glazing and Moving colours

Here is a photo of my artwork:

My next step in visual art is:
  • To try incorporate the techniques a bit more
  • Stay on task so I can finish my work quicker

Excellence Must Do - Get involved, Help around the school and Be a good role model

Today I had Garden To Table. We had to get in partners so me and my friend partnered up. Each partner got assigned a job in the garden and a few kids depending on the jobs we had. Me and my partner got three little kids to help us with our job. Our job was to plant broccoli in patch C. We grabbed our pot of broccoli and headed to patch C. We started by showing the kids how to dig a hole in the soil. It was a bit hard to make sure they made a good size hole but I was resilient and helped them slowly dig the holes. While my partner was helping them dig holes and fill them up I started handing the little squares of the broccoli.

After all the holes were filled and nicely watered we asked if there were anymore jobs but there weren't anymore left but the teachers let us help some other groups that had finished, pick up rubbish. The kids weren't so happy about the fact that they had to just walk around and pick up rubbish so we made it more fun for them by making it a competition to see who could get the most rubbish.

I showed leadership by helping the little kids plant the broccoli and by showing the little kids how to plant broccoli properly . Overall it was so much fun and I enjoyed helping the little kids

Excellence Can Do - Librarian #4

On Wednesday I did my duty of Librarian. First we went down to the library and grabbed the Lego and Barbie books (as they were the most popular kids books). When we reached the deck we sat down and put the books out. As we thought nearly all the little girls came running to us picking up books and coming around us to listen. There was so many girls I got so frustrated from reading books over and over again (obviously I didn't show that I was frustrated) but I showed my learner quality of resilience and kept going till the end of lunch. While I was reading I showed leadership by reminding the little kids how to treat books and to put them in the right place, and in this case it was putting them in the right box the right way.

Excellence Can Do - Librarian #3

On Tuesday I got involved by doing my duty that I had taken up as a librarian. As a librarian it was my duty to go down to the deck in the Junior area with some entertaining books and some bright colourful bean bags. We headed down and placed the bean bags and books down and sat down. Just as we sit down on the bean bag little kids just start rushing towards us. They choose books to listen to and we read them. After a while it got a bit frustrating because we had to read the same book again and again but that was maybe our fault for not bringing enough books but we just used the learner quality of Resilience and we just did it. I like reading to the Juniors because I feel knowen, I feel loved and feel like a good leader. I showed leadership by showing the Juniors how to respect books and how to turn the pages nicely instead of flicking the pages really fast and accidentally ripping the page.

On Tuesday I got involved by fulfilling the duty that I had taken up as a librarian. As a librarian it was my duty to go down to the deck in the Junior side with a bunch of entertaining books and some bright colourful bean bags. We headed down (like always), placed the bean bags and books down and sat down. Just as we as we make contact with the bean bag little kids just start rushing towards us. They choose books to listen to and we read them. After a while it got a bit frustrating because we had to read the same book again and again but that was maybe our fault for not bringing enough books but we just used the learner quality of Resilience and we just did it. Excellence Can Do - Peer Mediation #2

On Monday the 30th of May, I had Peer Mediation. Me and my buddy went to collect our things and go. Recently we have been working on action plans for our writing. Action plans are like plans that organize our goals so we can complete them. One of my goals is to roam around more, meaning I need to go around the other parts of the school and not only the junior area. On my action plan I wrote that I am going to make a route to follow so that I can get around the school properly. So today I followed that route and it worked out really well. We managed to make it around the school solving heaps of problems along the way. For example one of the problems was about some confusion on game rules. It was probably the hardest problem today, it wasn't that hard to figure out it was just really hard to be resilient and keep the kids calm. But I stayed resilient and figured the problem out just in time to make on time to class. Overall I think my little route that I have made was a huge success and I think I will use it more from now on. I showed leadership by listening to the juniors while they were informing us about the incident.
