W.A.L.T: Identify reflection, rotation and translation

Over the past term I have been in a geometry maths group with some other people. On my AsTTle maths test results it said I had to work on this goal so I have been working hard to complete my assigned activities and now I have come to the stage where I make a presentation to prove that I have fully understood this goal. Here is my presentation I hope you like it! :)

Overall I think I am Extended Abstract because I can identify reflection, rotation and translation really easily.

Koru Games - Leadership, Must Do, Excellence

Over the last 3 days all the year 7's and 8's went to four different venues to play four different sports. At the start of the year we had the selection of four sports, Netball, Basketball, Touch and Soccer. I chose Touch because I wanted to try something a bit different. Since term one with 0% of knowledge I and my team have come all the way till term 3 with 100% knowledge of our sport. In the past 3 days I have enjoyed playing Touch and almost scoring a try. Thinking back to the start of the year I have improved on my passing and defence. Overall I found the Koru Games was really fun and I cant wait to go back next year.

Help around the school

Today Emma and I helped around in the library because to librarians that were on didn't show up. We helped the only librarian that showed up and kept the library going and helping Mrs Ward at the desk, returning books to shelves and much more. It was really good to help around in the library when it wasn't my day. Overall I think you should try and help someone out without being asked to because it gives you a really good feeling.

Choir

Yesterday I had choir practice. We were revising a few songs  as we had a trip on Monday to avonside school. At avoiding snide school we will be practices singing with other schools for the big performance on the 30th of October in the CBS Arena. We obviously did some warm ups before we started singing though. We sang and practiced Ring Of Fire and a few more. Overall I can't wait till Monday to go practice singing with other schools and I can't wait to perform at the 2015 Music Featival.

W.A.L.T: I can apply some criteria to evaluate texts

W.A.L.T: I can apply some criteria to evaluate texts

We can evaluate texts using these text features:

  • An opening general statement
  • Technical Language - Topic words
  • Objective Language - Facts no taking sides
  • Structure - Meaning is built up step by step
  • Bias - Is it a one sided piece of text
  • Accuracy or information - Is the information true or false

Here is an example of how to find these text features.

Key
pin = Opening general statement
pin = Technical language
pin = Objective language
pin = Structure
pin = Bias
pin = Accuracy of infomation

Information about Moa

Moa lived very successfully in New Zealand for many hundreds of thousands of years, only becoming extinct some time after the arrival of people. Evidence that Moa existed is provided by fossils. It is known from the fossiled bones that have been found that Moa were large birds, with largest reaching 1.8 meters at the highest point on their backs, and weighing up to 240 kilograms. Although they had a small head, they had a long neck, large body, and large , powerful legs. The breast bones of Moa are similar to that of several living flightless birds. This, along with their size, means it is likely that Moa could not fly. It is also Lilley that Moa behaved in similar ways to some living flightless birds. Evidence that they , like kakapo, ate twigs, seeds, berries, and leaves, and browsed on shrubs (rather than ate grass as some flightless birds do) has been provided by preserved stomach contents that have been found.

In between the text I have highlighted where the text features are. Some of the sentences have been highlighted twice with different colours that means the those sentences have more than one text feature.

Writing prove it

Here is a piece of my speech prove it. This is not the speech that I read aloud in the video I posted last week. Also this not my whole speech it is only the intro. Also one more thing, I have highlighted in green some sentences that include my goal.
Goals
  • Sentence structure - Writing complex sentences, structuring them well
  • Ideas - Evaluating on ideas
  • Organisation - Organising paragraphs into order
It's hard being a kid

No one knows how hard it is to be a kid, it's like trying to walk on water or eating a Brussel sprout (it's really hard to eat Brussel sprouts). How would anyone know what it feels like to get unknown food just plop onto your plate that you are forced to eat and who would know how hard it is to get told that we are not responsible! Just one of the simplest decision that we can make on our own has to be decided by our lovely parents that always get the first choice. I understand that our parents used to be kids like us but the time has changed and kids are different now. But one thing that bothers all us kids is, why is that skinny long piece of paper full of writing so endless every time I cross off one of the jobs another one takes its place.

My next step is to

  • Make sure my spelling is correct

Choir

Last Friday I had choir. We got to school on time and showed up on time in the music room. First we were aiming to complete a few songs but we could only get up to that until we warmed up. After warming our vocal cords we started singing and then polishing up the songs. Overall I had a lot of fun and can't wait till next Friday.
